Today is the first day reporting for work? I am nervous yet excited. I am pondering what task the hotel would give us. We are given the introduction kit by the hotel. The introduction kit contains the code of ethics, our name tag, swissotel pin, colleague handbook and a calendar. We are also given a locker to keep our personal belongings. We are told to take good care of the name tag and our staff as we would need to pay a penalty if any of these went missing.
Next, we are led to the Housekeeping department at level 5. Swissotel the Stamford and Fairmont Singapore share the common Housekeeping Deapartment. Katya( The Executive Housekeeper) were friendly and spoke to us about the hotel organization. We were introduced to two Assistant Housekeeping Manager ( Mervyn and Jeffrey). We were then given the training schedule for the month of October to December. We are told to inform the hotel at least two hours beforehand if we could not make it for the shift and punctuality is very important.
Lunch is at the RC tuckshop. We used the card given to obtain food from the different sections. From what I know, the food is exactly the same everyday but occasionally, they would change the menu.
Today is our Orientation day, everything is made ‘’simple’’ for us. We were led by Kalai to fold, pack, label and sorting the linens. We spent half the day doing it. After completing the task, we were spilt into 2 groups. One group would be doing the rollaway beds while the other .Sharifah and I were led by xiao ping and xiao yong to do the rollaway beds. They were from Mainland china and have two years of housekeeping experience. They share their experience about the hotel with us. We asked them about the number of rooms to clean any fussy guests and tips to share with us. They showed us the proper way of doing the rollaway beds and we applied what we have leant during our housekeeping lessons in school and the way they taught us. We practice doing it and complete doing 15 beds in one hour.

Seriously i feel very tired working as i lose all my freedom and do not have timt to prepare for my 'o' levels.
